Item A joyful river ride: A transformative event experience(2022) Dimitrovski, Darko; Đurađević M.; Senic, Vladimir; Kostić, MarijaSports events are becoming synonymous with almost every destination, attracting a large number of participants who are looking for a new experience. Rafting as a form of active sports tourism is becoming an increasingly popular activity. It is one which can provide an unforgettable experience and can have a transformational effect on people's lives. This paper aims to discover what experiences lead to satisfaction for rafting event participants and consequently, their personal growth. In addition, satisfaction as a mediator between flow and experience co-creation and personal growth was investigated. The research was conducted using a structured questionnaire completed by 207 participants of the rafting event “Joyful Ride” that is traditionally held on the river Ibar, in Kraljevo, Serbia. SEM analysis determined a positive impact of the flow and experience co-creation dimensions on satisfaction and its consequent effect on the personal growth of participants in the event, while satisfaction was identified as a significant mediator in transformational process, from experience co-creation to personal growth. The study contributes to the existing literature by providing a better insight into what the antecedents of transformative experiences for individuals participating in sports rafting events are.Item A multi-criteria decision-making approach to performance evaluation of mutual funds: A case study in Serbia(2018) Jakšić, Milena M.; Mimović, Predrag; Leković, Miljan© 2016 - Yugoslav Journal of Operations Research. In this paper we evaluate the performance of nine mutual funds in the Republic of Serbia in the period 2011-2013 by integrating traditional approaches for measuring absolute efficiency and the selected multi-criteria decision-making methods for measuring relative efficiency. The aim of our research is to test selection abilities of Serbian portfolio managers. Performance evaluation of mutual funds, being by its nature a complex problem of multi-criteria decision-making, must be solved by the methods that have, at least, the same level of complexity. Research results indicate that mutual funds have inferior performance, which on the other hand, confirms that the national portfolio managers lack selection abilities.Item A new intelligence fuzzy-based hybrid metaheuristic algorithm for analyzing the application of tea waste in concrete as natural fiber(2021) Cao Y.; zandi, yousef; Rahimi A.; Wu Y.; Fu L.; Wang Q.; Denic N.; Amine Khadimallah M.; Milic, Momir; Paunović, MarijaConcrete is an ecologically friendly substance in which green concrete is a revolutionary subject in concrete industry records. The emphasis of this study was on the impact of Tea Waste (CA) as natural fiber on hardened concrete characteristics as a substitution for cement. Taking account of CO2 generation in cement manufacture, green concrete decreases emissions of CO2 into environmental production to an environmentally-friendly technique of pollution prevention. C1, C2, C3, C4 were then made of concrete of a class of 1, 2, 3, 4 kg reinforced in 1 m3 mix, then prepared and molded 4 distinct concrete types. After 28 days, the flexural and compressive strength tests have been carried out in a proper curing environment on the concrete. The findings were evaluated using the adaptive inference system neuro-fuzzy (ANFIS) to accurately predict the concrete flexural and compressive strength with low error rates. Finally, the reinforced concrete with tea wastes raised the water requirement, but reduced the compressive and flexural strength compared to control mix, however, it was raised while using up to 5.4 kg waste in 1 m3 concrete. The result showed that up to 5 kg of tea wastes in 1 m3 of concrete could also be utilized as natural fibers. Also, ANFIS could show its outperformance in analyzing test results in predicting the compressive and flexural strength.Item Adiponectin as a potential biomarker of low bone mineral density in postmenopausal women with metabolic syndrome(2018) Stojanovic D.; Arsenijevic, Nebojsa; djukic, aleksandar; djukic, aleksandar; Zivancevic-Simonovic, Snezana; Jovanovic, Mirjana; Pejnović, Nada; Nikolic V.; Živanović, Sandra; Stefanovic, Milan; Petrovic, Dejan© 2018, Acta Endocrinologica Foundation. All rights reserved. Context. Adiponectin is an abundant adipokine, which has antiinflammatory, anti-atherosclerotic and vasoprotective actions, and potential antiresorptive effects on bone metabolism. It seems to be directly involved in the improvement and control of energy homeostasis, protecting bone health and predicting osteoporotic fracture risk. Objective. To examine the relationship between adiponectin level and bone mineral density (BMD) in postmenopausal women with metabolic syndrome (MetS) and low BMD, and to estimate the prognostic significance of adiponectin in osteoporosis. Design. Clinical-laboratory cross-sectional study including 120 middle-aged and elder women (average 69.18±7.56 years). Subjects and Methods. The anthropometric parameters were measured for all examinees. Lumbar spine and hip BMD, as well as body fat percentage, were measured using a Hologic DEXA scanner. In all subjects serum adiponectin concentration was measured by ELISA method. Results. The level of adiponectin was significantly positively correlated with BMD-total, BMD of the lumbar spine and BMD of the femoral neck (r=0.618, r=0.521, r=0.567; p<0.01). Levels of adiponectin and BMD are significantly lower in post-menopausal women with MetS and osteoporosis compared to patients with osteopenia (856.87±453.43 vs. 1287.32±405.21 pg/mL, p<0.01; BMD, p<0.05), and the highest values in healthy examinees. A cutoff value of adiponectin level for osteoporosis/osteopenia was 1076.22/1392.74 pg/mL. Conclusions. Post-menopausal women with MetS have significantly lower adiponectin level and low BMD compared to healthy examinees. Adiponectin may be an early, significant and independent predictor of developing osteoporosis in women with MetS, especially in postmenopausal period.Item Afferent loop syndrome CFD simulation after Billroth II gastric resection(2011) Milašinović, Danko; Cvetkovic, Aleksandar; Ninkovic, Srdjan; Filipovic, Nenad; Kojić M.In this paper a CFD study of afferent loop syndrome after Billroth II gastric resection is presented. Three-dimensional CFD simulation is used in this study in order to investigate conditions at the duodenal stump after Billroth II gastric resection which may cause duodenal stump blowout. We performed virtual gastric resection using the preoperative Finite Element (FE) model based on MSCT Dicom. Three models after Billroth II gastric resection were created. CFD calculation was performed employing these models with data from literature. We calculated pressure and velocity distribution, as well as saliva and pancreatic juice and bile concentrations. After CFD simulation we had better insight into the processes within the duodenal stump after surgical intervention. This study can be useful for predictions of surgical complications. © 2011 IEEE.Item Alternativne mere i dekompozicija performansi portfolija investicionih fondova(Udruženje banaka Srbije, Beograd, 2018) Leković, MiljanPored u teoriji najčešće korišćenih i u praksi potpuno afirmisanih mera performansi portfolija: Šarpovog, Trejnorovog i Jensenovog ili alfa indeksa, u finansijskoj literaturi su se izdvojile i dve modifikovane verzije Šarpovog indeksa: informacioni racio i M2 mera performansi portfolija, jedna modifikovana verzija Trejnorovog indeksa: T2 mera performansi portfolija, modeli koji mere menadžersku sposobnost tajminga tržišta: Treynor-Mazuy i Henriksson-Merton model, i racio zasnovan na negativnom riziku i negativnoj devijaciji kao njegovoj meri: Sortinov racio. Published by Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group. The principal aim of this paper was to explore destination competitiveness factors of Jablanica District (Serbia), by examining the attitudes of tourists. For research purposes, 32 attributes of destination competitiveness were rated with two parallel five-point Likert type scales–one by which tourists rated the importance of the attribute and the other by which they expressed their satisfaction with the same. A total of 378 validly completed questionnaires were collected and served as a basis for data analysis. By using a factor analysis, the most important destination competitiveness factors were extracted. Based on this factor solution, Importance-Performance Analysis (I.P.A.) was performed. Using I.P.A., this article examines the efficiency of the resources allocation based on isolated factors, and the possibility of creating management strategies to improve the competitiveness of this destination. The results of this study indicate that the factors of food and environment are of primary importance for tourists when choosing this tourism destination. Research results will be of great importance for tourism managers in the destination, as well as for authorities of local governments in the district, to better understand strengths and weaknesses of identified competitiveness factors and utilise them as a starting point for tourism development.Item The analysis of competitive strategies from the perspective of small and medium enterprises(University of Kragujevac, Faculty of Hotel Management and Tourism in Vrnjaĉka Banja, 2020) Pavlović, Nebojša; Čelić, IrenaIn contemporary conditions of the economy, the small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) face numerous challenges because of the constant changes, which create both new threats and opportunities. The competition is fierce in the market – only those with clear plans and strategies will manage successful businesses. The companies relying on no strategy or usinga little bit of everything cannot be expected to thrive. The paper will explain in more depth the particularities and ways of organizing an entrepreneurship activity in the SMEs. Furthermore, it would describe competitive strategies and their positioning within an SME. The aim of this study is to explore competitive strategies and ways of their application in the SME.Item ANALYSIS OF THE OF DIGITAL TECHNOLOGIES APPLICATION IN NATURE PROTECTED AREAS(Fakultet za hotelijerstvo i turizam u Vrnjačkoj Banji, 2018) Luković, Milica; Kostić, MarijaNowadays, digital technologies are fundamental in all areas of society, including the protection of natural and cultural heritage. They determine the volume and method of organization of the financial function in agricultural enterprises. Hierarchical priorities of tasks, their volume and complexity, the impact on business efficiency are just some aspects that affect its organization. Multi-criteria optimization methods can be used in choosing the organization and setting the model of job specialization within the organizational structure of the financial function of agricultural enterprises. By applying the individual methods that have been applied so far, not all requirements could be fully covered, so in this paper we applied a hybrid optimization model - DEMATELTOPSIS. The DEMATEL method was used for obtaining the weighting coefficients of the criteria on the basis of which the evaluation of alternatives was performed. The selection of criteria for evaluating the model was based on the analysis of the available literature. Evaluation and selection of models was performed using a multicriteria method - TOPSIS. The paper presents the practical application and sensitivity analysis of the TOPSIS method.Item Application of the C-credibility measure(2020) Paunović, Marija ; Ralević N.; Gajović V.© 2020, Strojarski Facultet. All rights reserved. The complex logistics process involves numerous dynamic uncertainties and internal risks. Those risks alone or in interaction with other groups of risks can affect the entire system. This paper proposes the application of the new measure, c-credibility measure to the complex system such as logistic process. For this purpose, fuzzy logic system for risk assessments in logistic process is proposed. C-credibility selection through ranking is implemented in the simulation process with crh membership function definition on the fuzzy variable to calculate credibility value. Numerical analysis of the proposed approach with obtained results and the related discussion is presented.Item Applications of the fuzzy metrics in image denoising and segmentation(2021) Ralević N.; Paunović, MarijaIn this paper, the problem of removing the image noise in color (RGB) images is addressed as well as the problem of the image segmentation. A new filter is created on the basis of the new fuzzy metric composed of two other fuzzy metrics with necessary characteristics for quality noise elimination in the image. In addition, the algorithm applied for image segmentation also uses the fuzzy metric, created of two other metrics that have the necessary characteristics for high-quality pixels segmentation, in the stage of deciding into which segment the pixel belongs. For this purpose, the concepts of fuzzy T-metrics and fuzzy S-metrics are presented, as well as numerous examples of fuzzy metrics used in applications. Also, the procedure for constructing new fuzzy metrics is introduced. Compared with the results obtained with the use of a VMF (vector median filter) the proposed method process is of higher sharpness level. Tests also showed better segmentation values using the fuzzy metric instead of the standard metric in the FCM algorithm.Item Assessing the Impact of the COVID-19 Crisis on Hotel Industry Bankruptcy Risk through Novel Forecasting Models(2022) Matejic J.; Knezevic, Snezana; kneževic, snežana; Obradovic, Tijana; Milojević, Ivan; Adamović M.; Mitrovic, Aleksandra; Milašinović, Marko; Simonović D.; Miloševic G.; Špiler M.In this paper, we assess the impact of the COVID-19 crisis on the bankruptcy risk of a sample of 100 hotel companies and, consequently, on the hotel industry in the Republic of Serbia. The assessment applies to the period, 2019–2026, with the use of the data on the financial indicators for 2015–2020. Five novel structural time-series models, which have the indicators derived from Altman’s EM Z”-score model as predictors, were used, and a new conceptual framework for assessing bankruptcy risk is provided. The framework expands the applicability of credit-risk-scoring models to multiyear predictions, and it takes into account the dynamism of the transitions of the firms among Altman’s risk zones. The predictions that were obtained when the Springate and Zmi-jewski scores were applied along with the Altman Z”-scores demonstrate the fair applicability of the scores for the models that are introduced here. The results of the models were confirmed by 270 artificial neural networks and they were compared to the results of the classical time-series models. The crisis started to have a negative effect on bankruptcy risk in 2020, and this effect is expected to rise until 2023; currently, in 2022, the highest number of hotel companies may be headed for bank-ruptcy. Amelioration in the position of the companies cannot be expected before 2024; however, even in 2026, the risk of bankruptcy will remain high when compared to the pre-COVID-19 period and, thus, the surviving companies will become more fragile to any further exogenous changes. These results provide a basis for the adaption of state-supported measures and business policies in order to withstand the crisis and to ensure sustainability.Item Assessment of hearing loss severity in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus(2016) Simović, Slađana; Živanović, Sandra; Djurovic S.; Veličković V.; Koravovic M.; Kocic H.© 2016, Serbian Medical Society. All rights reserved. Objective. The purpose of this study was to determine diabetes mellitus tip 2 influence on the incidence and severity of sensorineural hearing loss. Methods. The prospective case control study was done during 2013 among 132 patients, whose age range was 21- 84 years, who were admitted to ENT department of the Health Center Kragujevac for evaluation of hearing loss. We performed detailed history, complete otorhinolaryngological examination including otoscopy, tympanometry and tonal liminal audiometry. All subjects were divided into two groups. The study group consisted of 67 patients with diabetes mellitus type 2 and the control group included age and gender matched subjects. We used tonal liminar audiometry for evaluation of the existence and the degree of hearing loss. The mean value obtained by tonal liminar audiometry at frequencies of 500, 1000, 2000 and 4000 Hz, greater than 25 dB was considered as a hearing loss. Data was statistically analyzed by using descriptive statistical methods, t- test and χ2-test using standard statistical software package (SPSS for Windows, version 19.0). Results. There was sensorineural hearing loss in all patients with diabetes mellitus type 2. The frequency and degree of sensorineural hearing loss were statistically significantly higher in the group with diabetes mellitus patient compared to the control group (p < 0.05). Conclusion. The results indicate that diabetes mellitus type 2 patients often have significant hearing loss, which is very easy to establish by using tonal liminar audiometry, suggesting that these patients should be referred to the assessment of the impairment.Item Assessment of quality and chemical composition of continental halophytic grasslands in south-east Europe(2022) Luković (born Petrovic), Milica; Šilc, Urban; Vasin J.; Radovic J.; Topisirovic, Goran; Kostić, Marija; StevanoviĆ Z.Continental halophytic grasslands are known for performing of range of ecosystem services especially remarkable in the regions where they are much distributed – in arid and semi-arid areas. Continental halophytic grasslands of the Central and South-East Europe are not considered as favourable for arable farming, however, traditional animal husbandry plays a crucial role in maintaining biodiversity and preserving these natural habitats. The particular interest of this study is the assessment of the chemical composition of biomass and the quality of insufficiently studied halophytic grassland communities of the central Balkans. In addition, the differences in pastoral value were monitored along the geographical gradient, i.e., between grasslands situated in the Pannonian plain (grasslands of Alliance Puccinellion limosae) and those distributed on the south Serbia (Alliance Festucion pseudovinae). The study was carried out at 18 representative sites, focusing on the saline grasslands of the two distinct regions – on the north and on the south of Serbia. The obtained results show that the halophytic grasslands have satisfying quality characteristics (average values: dry matter - 93.67%, crude protein - 8.66%, cellulose - 30.36%, crude fat - 2.27%) compared with other studied grasslands of saline habitats. There were no significant differences in quality and chemical composition of grasslands of the two regions, despite differences in floristic composition, indicating that salinity is the key determinant for pastoral value of the halophytic vegetation. The certain variations were attributed to the specific floristic composition related to ecological conditions and halophytic community characteristics.Item Assessment of the Bankruptcy Risk in the Hotel Industry as a Condition of the COVID-19 Crisis Using Time-Delay Neural Networks(2023) Špiler M.; Matejic J.; Knežević, Tomislav; Milašinović, Marko; Mitrovic, Aleksandra; kneževic, snežana; Obradovic, Tijana; Simonović D.; Despotović V.; Milojević M.; Adamović M.; Resimić M.; Milošević P.In this paper we demonstrate a new conceptual framework in the application of multilayer perceptron (MLP) artificial neural networks (ANNs) to bankruptcy risk prediction using different time-delay neural network (TDNN) models to assess Altman’s EM Z″-score risk zones of firms for a sample of 100 companies operating in the hotel industry in the Republic of Serbia. Hence, the accuracies of 9580 forecasting ANNs trained for the period 2016 to 2021 are analyzed, and the impact of various input parameters of different ANN models on their forecasting accuracy is investigated, including Altman’s bankruptcy risk indicators, market and internal nonfinancial indicators, the lengths of the learning periods of the ANNs and of their input parameters, and the K-means clusters of risk zones. Based on this research, 11 stability indicators (SIs) for the years under analysis are formulated, which represent the generalization capabilities of ANN models, i.e., differences in the generalization errors between the preceding period and the year for which zone assessment is given; these are seen as a consequence of structural changes at the industry level that occurred during the relevant year. SIs are validated through comparison with the relative strength index (RSI) for descriptive indicators of Altman’s model, and high correlation is found. Special focus is placed on the identification of the stability in 2020 in order to assess the impact of the COVID-19 crisis during that year. It is established that despite the fact that the development of bankruptcy risk in the hotel industry in the Republic of Serbia is a highly volatile process, the largest changes in the analyzed period occurred in 2020, i.e., the potential applications of ANNs for forecasting zones in 2020 are limited.Item Authenticity of gastronomic events as a function of branding a destination(University of Kragujevac, Faculty of Hotel Management and Tourism, 2021) Čavić, Slobodan; Mandaric, MarijaThe promotion of authentic food and beverages in Vojvodina is most commonly carried out in gastronomic events. Vojvodina is rich in gastronomic products coming from the households of different nations that inhabit its territory. Gastronomic events with their authenticity can contribute to the creation of the destination brand. The aim of the present study is to explore the authenticity of gastronomic events, which could contribute to a better promotion of Vojvodina and the creation of a recognizable brand of this tourist destination. The research was conducted through the method of survey, using a questionnaire on a sample of 150 respondents. Using statistical methods of binary logistic regression, Chi - square and Fisher's test, the analysis was performed and the results were presented. The findings of the research indicate that the authenticity of gastronomic events is recognized by the tourists; however, this should be better utilized in destination branding, as this feature could be the key in attracting tourists.
