Item A CORPUS-BASED ANALYSIS OF THE COLLOCATIONAL BEHAVIOR OF THE NOUNS DEFORMITY AND MALFORMATION IN MEDICAL ENGLISH(2021) Tomić, GoricaThis paper presents a corpus-based analysis of some aspects of the collocational behavior of the nouns deformity and malformation in the context of English for Medical Purposes (EMP). The aim was to determine which nominal and adjectival lexical items denoting or relating to the category of human body parts the two nouns exclusively or predominantly collocate with within three different patterns, namely ‘modifiers of deformity/malformation’, ‘deformity/malformation of, and ‘deformity/malformation in’ in the English Web Corpus 2015 available in the Sketch Engine software. The results of the quantitative and qualitative analyses of the collocational information retrieved from all three patterns indicate that, despite the fact that there are collocates common to both deformity and malformation, deformity tends to co-occur with nominal and adjectival lexical items which denote or are related to parts of the human musculoskeletal system and the hard(-tissue) structures, while malformation has a tendency to co-occur with nouns or noun phrases and adjectives denoting or relating to (parts of) the internal organs of the human body and its soft(-tissue) structures. The paper also offers some pedagogical implications for EMP teaching and learning.Item A hermeneutical investigation of historical and language apriority(2019) Jovanović, Miloš© 2019, University of Belgrade - Institute for Philosophy and Social Theory. All rights reserved. Based on the strict immanent, hermeneutical-phenomenological interpretation of literature and philosophy, the paper is an attempt to make a connection between the ideas of language and history such as they appear in Peter Handke’s poetological essay Ich bin ein Bewohner des Elfenbeinturms and his literary work Die Fahrt im Einbaum oder das Stück zum Film vom Krieg, on one side, and Immanuel Kant’s idea of history a priori in his essays on anthropology and philosophy of history, on the other side. According to Kant’s anthropology and philosophy of history a priori, which is possible when the one who predicts history makes and arranges history in advance, the idea of apriority of language in Handke’s poetological work presents the language as some sort of an a priori frame which forms the pictures of history and reality of subjects in advance, such as the history a priori in his literary work is obvious when the hidden creator of history exists before the history itself and arranges it in advance. The idea of philosophical and language apriority developed in this paper is a wide, all inclusive frame which gives a wide platform for proper understanding and interpreting of all philosophies of history without exception.Item Affective temperament, social support and stressors at work as the predictors of life and job satisfaction among doctors and psychologists(2017) Jaredic, biljana; Hinić, Darko; Stanojevic, Dragana; Zečević, Snežana; Ignjatovic Ristic, Dragana© 2017, Institut za Vojnomedicinske Naucne Informacije/Documentaciju. All rights reserved. Background/Aim. Affective temperament, social support and work-related stresors belong to the group of life and job satisfaction indicators. The aim of this research was to examine predictive roles of the basic affective temperament traits, social support and work-related stressors in the feeling of job and life satisfaction among doctors and psychologists. Methods. The sample consisted of 203 individuals out of whom there were 28% male and 72% female doctors (61%) and psychologists (39%), 25-65 years old (39.08 ± 9.29), from the two university towns in Serbia. The set of questionnaires included Serbian version of the Temperament Evaluation of Memphis, Pisa, Paris and San Diego autoquestionnaire version (TEMPS-A), Satisfaction with Life scale, Job Satisfaction Survey, short Interpersonal Support Evaluation List, and Source of Stress at Work Scale (IRSa) for estimating the frequency of stressors at work. Results. According to the existing norms our examinees are satisfied with their life, but considerably less satisfied with their work, specially with pay and benefits, while they are most satisfied with nature of work itself and social relations with co-workers and supervisors. Our results show that depressive and hyperthymic, and to some extent cyclothymic temperament traits of the affective temperament significantly predict 21% of life satisfaction variance. Situational factors, such as stressors at work and social support, are important in predicting job satisfaction (58% of variance) with no significant contribution of temperament traits. The analysis did not point out any significant relation of sex, occupation, and age with life and job satisfaction. Conclusions. Affective temperaments can be regarded as predictors of life satisfaction, but in order to better predict satisfaction the aspects of wider social surrounding and sources of stressors at work must be taken in consideration. Future studies should consider other indicators of life satisfaction such as family or health satisfaction, stressors outside of work situations, and negative aspects of caregiving, for example hyperactivation.Item AHILOVA TETIVA U ROMANU O LONDONU MILOŠA CRNjANSKOG(University of Kragujevac, Faculty of Philology and Arts, 2019) Nikolić, ČaslavThe scenes of the motoric cycle, the representation of extremities, the breaking of the tendons and the impotence of motion enable us to, by reading the Novel About London by Miloš Crnjanski, first of all solve the problem with the limitation of ontological and metaphysical thinking: the substance and structure of the human body, its dismantling and its disappearance. The shooting of the Achilles’ tendon of the main character of this novel is a seemingly, one-way mythological reminiscence. Nevertheless, the effect of this injury shows that Miloš Crnjanski changes familiar forms and enriches the meaning of the novel. Historical reminiscences, literary associations of heroes, hallucinations, narrative stylistics and narrative comments are not only important in a psychological sense or narrative-symbolic decor – they become the generic matrix of Rjepnin’s reality. The Novel About London by Miloš Crnjanski, is not just an anatomy book that is symbolically redefined. It is a novel about the upheaval, after which even the body does not remain.Item AMERIKA, AMERIKA – ILUZIJA I OBEĆANjE UTOPIJE(University of Kragujevac, 2019) Milić, KatarinaItem An Overview of Monolingual Online Dictionaries of The Serbian Language(2022) Spasić, Nataša; Todorović, MilanBy utilising the descriptive method, in this paper we have presented the current state of Serbian lexicography. Specifically, we emphasised the quantity and quality of free digital dictionaries. We based our research on the fact that dictionaries are an essential learning tool in a language classroom and that there is a wide choice of online dictionaries for many foreign languages. By viewing the data synchronically and analysing monolingual online Serbian dictionaries, we can conclude the following: 1) the supply, number and quality of available digital Serbian dictionaries is not satisfactory, especially Синхрони преглед једнојезичних онлајн речника српског језика 238 ФИЛОЛОГ XIII 2022 25 ones that are free of charge; 2) Serbian lexicography lacks one solid, reliable online dictionary that is founded on scientific and lexicological methods; 3) in the existing dictionaries all the elements of a dictionary entry are not present (part of speech, case, grammatical gender, grammatical number, audio recording of pronunciation, synonyms, idioms, and even full-fledged definitions and contexts of use). By using dictionaries in the classroom we can improve not only a student’s knowledge of lexicography, but we can also enrich their vocabulary, develop their wording and ways to express themselves, and improve their functional literacy. Thus, the role, importance and need for online dictionaries is vital.Item ANALITIČKI I HOLISTIČKI PRISTUP OCENjIVANjU PREVODA(Faculty of education in Jagodina, 2019) Tošić Lojanica, TianaAssessment of translation quality can be quite challenging, as the evaluator must strive to maintain objectivity and adhere to the established criteria of evaluation. The paper explores positive and negative aspects of analytical and holistic approach to translation quality assessment at university level. The qualitative analysis has been conducted on a corpus of final‑year students’ exam tests with the aim of determining reliability of these approaches, by comparing the final grades awarded by the same evaluator after a period of three months. The study has shown that both analytical and holistic method result in the same grade in 80% of assessed papers, whereas in the remaining 20% grades are higher when the holistic method is applied. Having closely examined the exam tests once again, we have concluded that this mismatch could be attributed primarily to the students’ language skills. Namely, highly proficient students tend to translate in a natural, fluent manner, thus diverting attention from some minor errors, which would otherwise be visible to analytical method. It appears that the crucial difference between the two methods lies in the expressive type of errors, which are generally not taken into consideration in the analytical approach. Consequently, combined approaches and other steps for improving the validity and objectivity of translation assessment are considered as well.Item ANALIZA DRAME „MUVE“ ŽANA POLA SARTRA PREMA MITOLOŠKO-RITUALNOJ KRITICI(Faculty of Philology and Arts, University of Kragujevac, 2022) Ilić, TeodoraThe subject of the paper is the analysis of the play The Flies by Jean Paul Sartre, published in 1943. The paper begins with defining the myth-ritual theory using the anthology The Myth and Ritual Theory by Robert Segal (1998), as the primary theoretical framework of the same. Therefore, by defining the mythritual theory, the goal is to present its characteristics in drama, and use them in a comparative analysis with the one above-mentioned play by Jean-Paul Sartre. The focus is put on J. G. Frazer’s theory of the “sacrifical king” as the main premise of tragedies, so we attempt to find this motif in the plays of Aeschylus and Sartre. Our aim was, consequently, to try and notice whether there is a ritual counterpart that corresponds to Sartre’s adaptation of the Electra myth, by also referring to its original source – Aeschylus’ serial Orestes. We start with the analysis of the Orestes trilogy using the myth-ritual theory, and then continue with the same analysis of The Flies. Finally, we come to a conclusion that Sartre does, in fact, adapt the motif of the “sacrificial lamb” of the myth-ritual theory (which is primarily concerned with the character of Orestes), in order to show his theological ideology for which he is famous for – existentialism. On the other hand, Aeschylus gives praise to the ancient gods and the Athenian democracy. Item ANALIZA NAČINA PISANjA SAŽETAKA U ČASOPISU „LIPAR“(University of Kragujevac, Faculty of Filology and Arts, 2022) Markeljić, SanjaThis paper deals with the manner of writing abstracts for the scientific papers published in the journal Lipar. The aim of the paper is to determine which information the authors of abstracts list when writing them and how much their manner of writing deviates from the theoretic rules of writing this element of scientificcritical apparatus. For this purpose, we collected a corpus of 50 scientific abstracts whose structure was compared with the model abstract formed by combining models offered in the journal Lipar and in the works we cited. The results of the research were as follows: 1) no example of the so-called all-inclusive model of a scientific abstract; 2) a total of 13 models was found; 3) the models subject (corpus) + method + goal + result and subject (corpus) + method + goal proved to be the most common ones in the corpus, but not significantly more common than the remaining models. Based on the listed results, we may conclude that the manner of writing a scientific abstract is far more diversified than the referenced works show.Item ANALIZA RAZGOVORNOG JEZIKA NA PRIMERU PREPISKE NA APLIKACIJI VIBER(University of Kragujevac, Faculty of Philology and Arts, 2019) Markeljić, Sanja; Jeremić, KatarinaThis paper analyses the written language of text messages sent via Viber, one of the most popular messaging applications. The aforementioned language style is analysed from the perspective of ethnomethodology. The subfield of discourse analysis that we employ in this paper is conversational analysis, which focuses on free, spontaneous, unregulated language (known as chat or chatting). In our analysis, we exclusively focus on the nonlinear structure of written Viber communication, i.e. embedded and side sequences, which violate the linear language structure. The main purpose of this paper is to observe and analyse the realization of embedded and side sequences in context and to highlight any significant variations that occur in the process of their realization. The conducted analysis yielded the following results: the role of nonlinear conversational sequences is crucial in written chat on Viber, which almost completely mirrors the structure of spoken chatting. In addition to the aforementioned, we noticed the following: sequences can be completely or partially realized. The partial realization entails omission of certain conversational elements, which in theory, at least, form part and parcel of these sequences. Furthermore, the analysis also revealed that combinations of these sequences likewise occur. Last, but most certainly not the least, inadvertent interrupting creates a seemingly chaotic structure of correspondence in this application.Item ANALIZA SOLO PESME NA STIHOVE JOHANA VOLFGANGA GETEA U ODABRANIM DELIMA VOLFGANGA AMADEUSA MOCARTA, LUDVIGA VAN BETOVENA I FRANCA ŠUBERTA(Univerzitet u Kragujevcu, Filološko-umetnički fakultet, Kragujevac, 2021) Pantović, Sanja R.; Jeremić, Mirko R.The history of music points to the fact that vocal music from the fifteenth to the nineteenth centuries was concentrated on expression of emotions ofncomposers. At the beginning of the nineteenth century, in 1814, Austrian composer Franz Schubert, with his song Gretchen am Spinnrade marked the beginning of the genre of song in Romanticism – Lied, which shows the link between the character of poetry and the character of music. By analysing the structure of selected songs W. А. Моzart – Das Veilchen, L. V. Beethoven – Freudevoll und leidvoll and Franz Sshubert – Gretchen am Spinnrade and Erlkönig we realised the relationship between vocal line, lyrics and piano score in the periods of Classicism and Romanticism. German musicologist Friedrich Blume believes that Classicism and Romanticism create a unique whole. What is meant to be the peak of Classicism in the works of W. A. Mozart is intertwined with the charm of Romantic. Beethoven’s compositions, construed on the aspirations of Classicists were enriched with dramatic presentation of personal confession of pain in everyday life, whereby they completely confirmed their integration in the nineteenth century. By the form of song and a degree of expression of own emotions, Mozart and Beethoven did not completely match the lyrics and music. In the domain of song, Franz Schubert, although inspired by the works of his predecessors, shows the union between the character of poetry and the character of music, thus emphasizing the influence of meaning and values of lyrics for the realisation of melody.Item APOKALIPSA SUTRA: TEOPOETIKA, POEZIJA I ODGOĐENA APOKALIPSA(University of Kragujevac, Faculty of Philology and Arts, 2022) Kandić, MilicaItem ARCHEOLOGICAL ANATOMY ОF SCIENCE FICTION MEDICAL LITERATURE: DISCURSIVE CYBORG BODY(University of Kragujevac, Faculty of Philology and Arts, 2019) Teodorović, JasminaThe paper deals with Foucault’s study of The Birth of the Clinic in terms of genealogical and archeological discursive ethos of medical knowledge. Foucault’s gaze refers to a discourse brought about by diverse and disparate techniques and practices involved in the production of the new field of knowledge at the onset of the 18th century. However, the schism between the language of fantasy and that of direct constant visibility questions one’s ability to establish a certain semantic and linguistic shift in the point of view as to lay claim to a rational, that is to say scientific discourse. Hence, Foucault’s study The Birth of the Clinic relates to the gaze of a much larger scope and range. It is considered and re-considered within the historical and cultural frames of constructing concepts, discourses and experimental acts replacing and displacing space(s) of human, historical and institutional formations of knowledge. The body of medical knowledge is, thus, treated as SF per se, cyborg-like “creature” in its own right. The analysis was primarily syntactic-semantic, because its goal was to single out and describe the basic structural-semantic models of asyndetic sentences in Radulović’s literary work. The method of analysis was analytical-synthetic. The analysis of asyndetic sentences in Jovan Radulović’s short stories greatly changes the view on the syntactic-semantic and stylistic status of these sentences in the language in general, and in the literary-artistic style in particular. Namely, Jovan Radulović shows originality and innovation by creating as many as five structural-semantic types of asyndetic sentences. Thus Radulović forms asyndetic sentences: 1) whose clauses combine narrative and direct speech as the speech of literary characters, 2) whose clauses combine narrative and free indirect speech, 3) whose clauses represent sentences of different functional goal or purpose, 4) which combine clauses expressed by predicate and non-verbal statements, and 5) whose asyndetic clauses allow“insertion” into the structure of another asyndetic clause. And it is exactly these types that represent the main argument that asyndetic sentences are structured according to the principles of the (bound) text, and not according to the principles of a complex sentence. The analysis also showed that Jovan Radulović often includes a syndetic clause in the structure of polyclause asyndetic sentences in the mesophoric or epiphoric position for semantic and / or stylistic reasons, thus forming an asyndetic-syndetic sentence, which represents a comparative basis for declaring asyndetic sentences as a stylistic device. The analysis also showed that Jovan Radulović uses three orthographic signs for syntactic delimitation of clauses without conjuntions in the asyndetic sentence, namely commas, dashes and semicolons, where the comma is the most common and structurallystylistically unmarked sign, while dash and semicolon are always used intentionally: for a special or structural or semantic, or stylistic emphasis on the role of one of the clauses within the whole asyndetic sentence.Item AUTOBIOGRAFIJA KAO RAZOB-LIČENjE U SLIKARU PROLAZNOG SVETA I OSTACIMA DANA KAZUA IŠIGURA(University of Kragujevac, 2019) Matović, TijanaThis paper explores the narrative strategies employed by the homodiegetic narrators-protagonists of two novels by Kazuo Ishiguro, An Artist of the Floating World and The Remains of the Day, to oppose the ironic de-facement of their narrative identities, which they consider to be stable and ethically non-questionable. The analysis of the novels employs key terminology borrowed from deconstruction, hermeneutics, and the poetics of postmodernism, as well as theoretical insights regarding the dethroning of metanarratives which stipulate absolute presence. The interpretation of these novels points to an ironic deconstruction of both the diachrony and synchrony, i.e. the continuity and coherence of Masuji Ono’s and butler Stevens’ narrative identities, produced within their testimonies in the form of diary-like instalments, which aim at maintaining their identity configurations based on dignity that they had absolute faith in and, simultaneously, at partially rewriting them under the pressure of the new symbolical order which places additional demands for adjustment in each instalment. Perspectivism, i.e. Ono’s and Stevens’ narrow perspectives, de-face their autobiographical narratives; however, the formative narrative strategies eventually win over because the de-facement can only be performed and sustained within the limbic space, while the narrative iterations and intertextuality that produce subjectivity continue producing it even after the cathartic humbling of the protagonists.Item AUTOBIOGRAFIJA RECEPCIJE, SUNCE OVOG DANA: PISMO ANDRIĆU VLADIMIRA PIŠTALA(University of Kragujevac, Faculty of Philology and Arts, 2020) Tanasijević, IvanaThe paper aims to explore various constitutional aspects of the postmodernist poetics in the novel “The Sun of this Day” by Vladimir Pištalo. Seeing the work as a rounded postmodernist poetics of the thirds developmental phase within the framework of national literature, the work explores all those elements that make this novel an attempt to reach the final, “allunderstanding” genre. Examining the form itself, both on the macro plan, within the epistolary structure, and on the metanarrative passages and singular sentences, the paper observes Pištalo’s novel as a comprehensive upgrade of the tradition, in terms of the forms, as well as the literary role models. in mind that “The Sun of this Day” takes Ivo Andrić’s literary opus as its central figure, and since he represents only the cause for considering a wide-ranging cultural, political and literary circumstances of one era, through the perspective of Pištalo’s interpretation of Andrić we will examine the figure of a Woman, hero and a question of counterpoint, trying to emphasize the most significant points of this complex novel. By building its discourse on a specific procedure of creative-hermeneutic writing, through the intersection of personal, literary aspirations and Andrić’s poetic principles, Vladimir Pištalo’s novel represents an unusual work, which, resisting strict genre and poetic definitions, makes an unique biography of one nation and culture.Item AUTOPOETIČKO PUTOVANjE U PESNIČKOJ ZBIRCI „UNUTRAŠNjI ČOVEK“ VOJISLAVA KARANOVIĆA(University of Kragujevac, Faculty of Filology and Arts, 2022) Kandić, MilicaThis paper examines the autopoetic statements in Vojislav Karanović’s collection of poetry Unutrašnji čovek (2011). Furthermore, it strives to point out the transformations that are present in Karanović’s poetry collection. Bearing in mind that the poet’s reflections on his poetics are noticeable in his previous works, this research paper is based on the hypothesis that elements of Karanović’s autopoetics can be found in this collection of poetry, as well. We used the analytic-synthetic method for this research in order to analyze the selected corpus by interpreting the poems firstly, and then the poetry collection. Hence, we tried to determine the changes regarding the poems, poetic form, as well as poetic language.Item AUTORSTVO KAO BREND: MARTIN MAKDONA(University of Kragujevac, 2019) Antonijević, Nataša; Vlašković Ilić, BiljanaThe Anglo-Irish playwright Martin McDonagh is an intriguing and much discussed phenomenon in contemporary drama, who provokes comments not only with his plays, but also with his statements, interviews, and behaviour in public events. The paper analyses the manner in which McDonagh represents himself as an individual and as an author, both in his public appearances and in his opus, and the research will be based upon views of postmodern theorists such as Jean Baudrillard, Fredric Jameson, and Linda Hutcheon. The paper aims to demonstrate that McDonagh should not be classified as a postmodernist dramatist solely because of the topics he deals with in his plays, but also because by his public statements he transforms both his opus and himself as a public persona into a brand which draws equal attention of critics and audiences.
